The picture was published with the fairy tale Trollsonen, who had sun eyes and became a forester by Vilhälm Nordin and was published in the fairy tale collection Bland tomtar och troll . John Bauer is known for his fairy tale motifs with trolls and princesses and he has had a great influence on Swedish folklore and storytelling.
