Poster featuring the famous painting The Red Tree by Piet Mondrian . Piet Mondrian was a Dutch artist who lived between 1872 and 1944 and is considered one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He was a significant pioneer of abstract art and very famous for his compositions with geometric shapes and basic colors .
In The Red Tree we see an apple tree in fiery red against a cobalt blue evening sky on the Dutch coast at Domburg where Mondrian and so many other artists spent their summers. The painting was one of Mondrian's first steps from lifelike motifs to more abstract ones for which he became very famous.
