A fantastic poster with a portrait of Adolf Fredrik - King of Sweden, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp. The painting is painted by Lorens Pasch the younger, a Swedish artist, professor and director at the Art Academy from 1773.
Adolf Fredrik was born at Gottorp Castle in Holstein-Gottorp, Germany. In 1743, he was appointed Swedish crown prince after the Russian War of the Hats, under pressure from the Tsarina Elizabeth. The following year he married Lovisa Ulrika of Prussia, sister of Frederick the Great.
Lorens Pasch was one of the most respected portrait painters in Sweden during the Gustavian era. Through his work as a teacher, he gained great influence for the development of art in Sweden.
