Amelia Mary Earhart was born on July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas. Presumably Amelia died in the western Pacific when she disappeared without a trace during a flight around the world in 1937.
She became famous through a series of daring long flights and worked for women to be given the same opportunities as men to train in aviation.
