Blekinge's regional coat of arms consists of an oak with three crowns stacked on top of each other on the trunk of the oak. The entire weapon is depicted in gold against a blue background. The symbol was developed when Blekinge became part of Sweden after previously belonging to Denmark, and the coat of arms was used for the first time in connection with Karl X Gustav's funeral in 1660.
The oak's powerful and deeply branched roots represent stability and anchoring in the landscape, while the three crowns symbolize Blekinge's connection to the Swedish royal house and its status within the Kingdom of Sweden. The fact that an oak tree was chosen may be a reference to Blekinge's forested landscape
The text above the coat of arms reads: Blekinge's Coat of Arms. At the bottom left it says: "Sweden's National and Country Coat of Arms. Established by the Royal Majesty. After drawings by Prof. M. AD. Hildebrandt in Berlin. Published by Carl Arvid Klingspor."
