Piet Mondrian was a Dutch artist who lived between 1872 and 1944 and is considered one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He was a significant pioneer of abstract art and very famous for his compositions with geometric shapes and basic colors .
Piet Mondrian's compositions have inspired several great designers. In the 1930s, Hermès produced bags and suitcases with patterns of Mondrian's red, blue and yellow squares. Yves Saint Laurent launched a Mondrian collection in the 1960s with trendy dresses in the same pattern. The collection became so popular that it inspired a number of other products and was launched in several different imitations by several other fashion companies.
