Cornelis was born on August 8, 1937 in the Netherlands and was a Dutch-Swedish troubadour, composer, poet and actor. He is classified as one of Sweden's most popular and famous troubadours of all time.
Vreeswijk moved to Sweden as a 12-year-old and later in the 60s he broke through as a singer, songwriter and actor. Vreeswijk also frequently interpreted other famous musicians such as Carl Michael Bellman, Evert Tabue and Povel Ramel.
Vreeswijk lived a hard concert life with many gigs but despite his enormous popularity Vreeswijk never became a Swedish citizen.
