Poster with the illustration "Crosby", a work by Frederick Gordon Crosby (1885-1943) who was a British artist known for his dynamic and dramatic depictions of early motor racing.
The image captures an intense scene of a car hurtling down a road. The car is black and oblong, an old model, with two drivers driving the car. The illustration is probably from the early 1900s when cars were still new and experimental. It was also during this period that car racing began to be organized.
Crosby was an illustrator for the British motoring magazine The Autocar and is known for his depictions of speed, movement and technical detail. His work was often romanticized and helped shape the heroic image of motorsport in its early decades.
