A fantastic poster featuring the unique painting Dancers, Pink and Green from the year 1890 by Edgar Degas - a famous French artist, printmaker and sculptor.
The painting is of a line of ballet dancers getting ready in dresses of a beautiful, green color. Degas marked the composition with the shadowy profile of a top-hatted patron of the Paris Opéra, which can be seen in the center of the picture. The profile enjoys the privilege of spending time with the dancers backstage during a performance.
The painting is painted with the painting technique in mpasto, a technique which means that paint is applied so thickly that the strokes from the brush, painter's knife or other tool become clearly visible and that the painting takes on a relief-like expression.
