Hotel Rydberg – Gentleman's haunt at the turn of the last century (1857-1914).
Hotell Rydberg was a hotel with restaurant and bar at Gustav Adolfs Torg in Stockholm. During its time, the hotel was one of the city's better-known entertainment establishments and was visited, among other things, by journalists and writers – a gathering place for artists and intellectuals. The hotel also housed the men's club Sällskapet between the years 1857-70. Biff Rydberg, or Biff à la Rydberg , is considered to have been served for the first time in the hotel's restaurant.
In the photograph guests and staff are seen in connection with the closing of the bar in September 1914. Among the guests we see opera singer Oscar Bergström sitting as third person from the right.
