Götaverken was a shipyard at Hisingen in Gothenburg. In the 1930s, Götaverken was the world's largest shipyard based on the number of tons launched. The company was founded in 1841 by the Scottish businessman Alexander Keiller and was then called Keiller's Werkstad in Gothenburg . The company went bankrupt in 1989, but some parts of the business still survive today in the form of Cityvarvet , which carries out repair and maintenance of ships.
