Poster with a beautiful photograph of mountain climbers in Jotunheimen , taken by Anders Beer Wilse.
Jotunheimen, or "Home of the Giants", is a high mountain area in Norway of approximately 3,500 square kilometers. Here are some of Norway's and northern Europe's highest mountains, including Galdhøpiggen (2,469 meters above sea level) and Glittertind (2,452 meters above sea level), which are Scandinavia's two highest mountains. In 1980, 1,151 km² of the area was set aside as Jotunheimen National Park.
Anders Beer Wilse was a Norwegian photographer who documented Norway in the early to mid-20th century and also worked in the United States. Wilse was born in Flekkefjord, but grew up in Kragerø and decided early on to become a sailor. After graduating from the technical school in Horten in 1882, he emigrated to the United States in 1884.
