The Kanonloppet was arranged for the first time on June 4, 1950 in Karlskoga, on a course that measured 1,550 meters. The race was a hit with the public already in the first year, when 15,000 people came to see the race.
In the picture we see the start of the 1959 edition, there would be a big bet for that year's Kanonlopp. The main attraction was undoubtedly Stirling Moss, who was also victorious in a Cooper Monaco sports car with a time of 1.34.1.
Over the years, the Kanonloppet has come to mean a lot to car enthusiasts in and outside the country's borders.
