Poster with the painting " Look ahead, Bergen wave" by the Norwegian artist Christian Krohg (1852-1925) who is known for his realistic depictions of life in Norway, especially in marine paintings and socially engaged works.
The painting was made in 1884 and depicts a man in a boat rowing through the water towards the port of Bergen. In the background is a lively harbor environment with ships and buildings that capture an atmosphere of movement and life.
Christian Krohg studied at art academies in Oslo and Paris and became a leading figure in Norwegian realism. Krohg was particularly noted for his marine paintings and portraits, as well as his works that highlighted social issues, such as The alcoholic (1885). In addition to his artistry, he was also a committed journalist and writer who fought for workers' rights and social justice.
