Poster with a picture of skiing legend S ixten Jernberg (1929-2012) at the Olympics in Cortina 1956. Here we see him in the track after 35 km, cheered on by fellow gold medalist Sigge Ericsson.

Sixten Jernberg won a total of 9 medals, of which 4 were gold, at the Olympic Winter Games. This, together with his efforts in the World Cup which brought 6 additional medals, means that he is counted as one of Sweden's foremost sportsmen of all time.

It was at the competition in the picture that the really big breakthrough came for Sixten. He won four medals during the Olympics in Cortina, of which the one at 50 kilometers, which you can also see in the picture, was the greatest feat. The successes led to Sixten being awarded Svenska Dagbladet's gold medal that same year.
