Poster with motif of the painting Still Life with Fruit, Lizard and Insects from 1664. Ottmar Elliger, born 1633 and died 1679, was a Swedish-German artist who flourished during the Baroque period. He is best known for his portraits and still life paintings.
Working in Amsterdam, where he studied under the renowned Dutch artist Gerard Terborch, Elliger developed a unique style characterized by detail and realism. He focused on rendering objects and people with great accuracy, especially in the way light and shadow were rendered.
Elliger is primarily celebrated for his still lifes in which he painted flowers, fruit and dead birds with an impressive technical skill and delicate sense of composition. Although his works showed influences from the Dutch still life tradition, he also introduced a personal touch to them.
