Poster of the painting The Dance Class created by the famous artist Edgar Degas in 1874. This work and its variants, exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, represent the most ambitious paintings that Degas engaged in with the theme of dance.

In the picture we see a range of different women, ballerinas and their mothers. Jules Perrot, a famous ballet master, leads the class. The scene takes place in a rehearsal room in the old Paris Opéra, which had recently burned to the ground.

On the wall next to the mirror is a poster for the opera composer Rossini's " Guillaume Tell" - a tribute to the singer Jean-Baptiste Faure. Faure then commissioned this work and loaned it to the 1876 Impressionist Exhibition.

Artist : Edgar Degas | Created: 1874.
