A greeting from 1958
The archive record preserves more than the photograph itself: it includes a stamp dated 10 October 1958 and a handwritten note in red ink: “Baby Doll Bertil Kihlgren”. A small inscription on the back that gives the image an unexpectedly concrete trace of its sender.

The story behind the motif

The motorboat Baby Doll in the summer of 1958 on the Italian Riviera. The boat is probably a 50's wooden Chris Craft and was perfectly suited for water sports, which the picture also shows with the water skis sticking out of the cockpit.
