The story behind the motif
RMS Titanics leaves Southampton and sets off on the fateful maiden voyage in 1912.
Titanic's construction was a major engineering challenge for the shipyard because of its enormous size. The ship was built to surpass anything previously built in shipping in terms of luxury and opulence. Innovations on board included a saltwater pool, a gym, a squash court and a Turkish bath. In the Turkish bath you could take an electric bath (an early form of solarium), steam bath, get a massage and enjoy in a hot and a cold room.
