When the police chose Porsche
On 23 July 1966, when the photograph was taken in Örebro, the police’s brief Porsche era was under way. Eleven 912s were acquired between 1965 and 1970 for traffic surveillance on the new motorways, at a time when 1,313 people died in Swedish road accidents in a single year. All the police Porsches had been phased out by 1978.

The story behind the motif

Poster with a picture of three Porsche 912s that were used by the Swedish police during the 60s to chase traffic offenders. The Swedish police had a total of 22 Porsches, half of which were 911T and half 912.

The Porsche 912 was a smaller sibling of the 911 and had a 4-cylinder straight engine with 90 horsepower.

The cars in the picture are lined up outside Scania-Vabis in Södertälje, ready to be delivered to the Länstrafikgruppen in Stockholm.
