In 1865, Johan Fredrik Eckersberg returned to a subject that had already become a national-romantic masterpiece through Adolph Tidemand and Hans Gude’s 1848 painting. Eckersberg did not merely make his own version—he painted another one as early as 1866.

The story behind the motif

Canvas with a beautiful painting from 1865, a honeymoon was depicted on a sunny summer day in the Hardangerfjord. The artist Johan Fredrik Eckersberg was a recognized talented landscape painter and had great influence in the transition from romanticism to realism both as an artist and as a teacher at his own art school in Oslo.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
