The story behind the motif

Poster with photo of a group of Swedish pilots in the Ethiopian Air Force. After the Second World War, Sweden sold 47 dive bombers of the B17A type to Ethiopia and a total of 175 Swedes from the air force worked in Ethiopia until the early 1960s.

The picture shows three aircraft of the B17A type over the mountainous regions of Ethiopia flown by Swedish pilots. After World War II, von Rosen was asked by Emperor Haile Selassie if he could build up the Ethiopian Air Force, with which he was also active from 1946 with the rank of colonel in the Imperial Ethiopian Air Force. 1940s
