The story behind the motif
The year is 1898 and in the picture we see Drottningtorget and Gothenburg's central station. On the left in the picture we see Hotell Christiania, which today is called Hôtell Eggers. Hôtel Eggers is one of Sweden's oldest hotels that is still in operation. They have received and served guests for over 160 years, only since 1859. Gothenburg Central Station was built the year before and is the oldest station still in operation.
