An Archipelago Base for Air and Sea
When this image was taken in 1937, Märsgarn was more than a training area: it was one of the bases for the Air Force’s reconnaissance and torpedo aircraft, attached to F 2 at Hägernäs. Aviation in Hårsfjärden already had roots in the Navy’s air service from 1913—a sign of how closely air and naval forces became intertwined in the archipelago defence of the interwar period.
