Ford before the factory
In 1930, Ford built its new Swedish hub in Frihamnen, designed by the functionalist architect Uno Åhrén. It housed a showroom, workshop and spare-parts warehouse – but no assembly line yet; the cars arrived largely finished from Copenhagen. It was not until 1949 that the first Swedish-assembled passenger car was delivered from the facility.
