The story behind the motif
Poster with an advertising poster for anchovies from the 1910s. On the poster we see a fishing boat together with the text CJ Sundberg's anchovies: Finest pickles of anchovies, delicacy herring and herring in fork pieces.
Anchovies were invented in 1842 by saltery owner Gustav Andersson. It was originally produced at Dorthes Konservfabrik in Fjällbacka, Bohuslän. Production in Fjällbacka ceased in 1928 after the factory burned down. Anchovies began to be produced in Grebbestad in 1887. Today, production takes place in Kungshamn.
