The story behind the motif
Poster with a unique photograph of Mälartorget and Old Town, Stockholm in January 1913. When the picture was taken, the water in Mälaren had risen so high that it caused a flood in Stockholm.
In the picture we see a group of boys standing on the quay which is just above the surface of the water. Steamboats are moored at the wharf. At Mälartorget, market trade took place with goods that were brought to Stockholm by boat.
