The story behind the motif
The Kanonloppet was arranged for the first time on June 4, 1950 in Karlskoga, on a course that measured 1,550 meters. The race was a hit with the public already in the first year, when 15,000 people came to see the race.
In the picture we see the start of the Tourist Coach Class during the 1960 edition. There were 33,500 spectators in the audience. The drivers in the picture are: Carl-Gunnar ''Cege'' Hammarlund (car 3), Jan Fritzner (car 4), Simon Boström (car 6), Hans Radefalk (car 8) and ''Rally'' Harry Bengtsson (car 7 ).
Over the years, the Kanonloppet has come to mean a lot to car enthusiasts in and outside the country's borders.
