The story behind the motif

Poster with a beautiful painting painted by David von Krafft , a German painter and artist. The picture is a portrait of Karl X Gustav who we see posing under a mighty sky.

Karl X Gustav was king of Sweden from 1654 until his death six years later. His short time as Swedish king was marked by war, and he spent most of his reign as the leader of the Swedish army in Poland, Germany and Denmark. The army was very successful and the train across the Great Belt that led to the peace in Roskilde is one of Sweden's greatest military successes ever.
