The anniversary that wanted to change Halland
When the Halland County Agricultural Society celebrated its centenary in 1912, its mission extended beyond farming. At its foundation in 1812, the society aimed, among other things, to promote popular education, stabilise drifting sand through tree planting, develop fishing and support Halmstad harbour. The agricultural meeting thus became an anniversary of an early regional modernisation project.
