The story behind the motif
Poster with a unique photograph on Norrbro towards Gustaf Adolfs torg in Stockholm at the end of the 19th century.
People, trams and crew gather around the space of the bridge. On the left we see the famous Norrbro bazaars where there were bookstores, cafes and exclusive clothing stores until 1903 when they were demolished and the Riksdagshuset was built.
In the background we see the old Hotel Rydberg and against the sky the silhouette of the old Telephone Tower. It was at Norrbro that Sweden's first gas lanterns as street lighting were lit on 18 December 1853.
