The story behind the motif
Beautiful Gothenburg harbor with the America boats at the Amerikaskjulet in 1940. The America boats belonged to the shipping company Svenska Amerika Linien, which was founded by Dan Broström. They took passengers to, among other places, New York and were the pride of the city.
Gothenburg was founded as a city by King Gustav II Adolf in the 17th century . The name itself originally comes from the fact that Gothenburg was a fortress on the Göta river.
