The story behind the motif

Poster with motifs from Riksgränsen's Station House in 1950. During the 1950s, Riksgränsen's station house functioned as a vital hub for both rail and tourist traffic at the Norwegian border in northern Sweden. It was not only a place of travel, it was a symbol of pioneer spirit and adventure in the remote mountains. Skiers, adventurers and nature lovers from different parts of the world gathered here to explore the magnificent mountain world and enjoy a range of winter sports.

Photography Riksgränsen's Station House 1950 shows two men standing and discussing in front of the station house. On the left, we can see how the man is wearing typical work clothes for station workers of the time, while the man on the right is possibly a traveller.
