The story behind the motif
Poster with an old picture from the Summer Olympic Games at Stockholm Stadium in 1912. In the picture we see the timekeeper and photographer. Stockholms Stadion had been built just for the competition and was brand new. 2,600 athletes participated, of which 60 were women, which corresponded to 2.23%. Although it may seem small, the percentage was large based on what was common at the beginning of the 20th century. One of the Games' most notable competitors was Shiso Kanaguri, the Japanese marathon runner who mysteriously disappeared in the middle of the race, only to return to Sweden and complete the distance some 55 years later. A TV series will soon be launched to recreate this mysterious event.
