The story behind the motif

Poster with the beautiful painting Sunset at Sea, or Solnedgång på seat in Swedish. The painting is created in the middle by Marcus Larson, a Swedish painter.

Simon Marcus Larson was born in 1825 in Åtvidaberg, and died in 1864 in London. Stylistically, Larson was a national romantic landscape painter belonging to the Düsseldorf school, which means that he depicted the forces of nature in a romantic and dramatic way - something that we see in this powerful painting.
