The story behind the motif
Poster with the illustration "The Home Guard is calling" and is one Swedish mobilization poster from World War II. It is part of Sweden's war propaganda during World War II.

The poster from around the 1940s urges to "Get up! The Home Guard is calling!" and was part of a campaign to recruit more people to Hemvärnet, a voluntary defense organization in Sweden.

The image has a simple design with a soldier in uniform who stands in a challenging stance and holds a rifle. Next to him is a passive man sitting in a chair who appears to be in a relaxed state, which contrasts with the soldier's action.
