The story behind the motif
Poster with an old illustration from 1899. In the picture we see the alphabet written in beautiful period typography. Here you can also see different techniques for creating shadows behind the letters, which was common around the turn of the century.
The illustration was published in the book Den Praktiske Skyltmålaren - A collection of executed company signs and alphabets reproduced in rich color printing to guide painters, at the same time a magnificent and practical pattern book for customers and was written by the sign master Josef Jonsson in Stockholm.
