The story behind the motif
Poster with the painting At the piano by Albert Edelfelt from 1884. The beautiful motif is of a man and a woman sitting at a piano. The woman plays the keys and the man reads the notes while keeping one arm around the woman.
Albert Edelfelt was one of the first Finnish artists to achieve international fame. As a 19-year-old, Edelfelt went to Antwerp in 1873 to study history painting. He then continued his painting studies in Paris, where in 1800 he received, among other things, a medal for the painting Ett barns likfärd (1879).
Artist: Albert Edelfelt | Created: 1884.
