Commissioned for the Jubilee
The painting was not intended as a standalone harbour view. It formed part of Jacob Hägg’s major commission for Gothenburg’s Jubilee Exhibition in 1923, where eight monumental canvases were shown in the maritime pavilion. Hägg was 79 when he began the work – in the midst of one of his most productive periods.

The story behind the motif

Canvas with a fantastic oil painting of Gothenburg's harbor in 1918. The beautiful painting has a high level of detail with ships and ships at sea and Gothenburg's harbor in the background.

The painting is painted by the beloved naval artist Jacob Hägg, who was also a Swedish naval officer. He is known for his classic motifs of the West Coast with ships at sea.

Delivery time is normally around 5–7 business days within the Nordic countries, as we handcraft our canvas artworks in our factory in Sweden, and the canvas fabric also needs to dry before we stretch it over a wooden frame and ship it to you.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
