The film offers a significant ethnographic and dramatic insight into the traditional life of the Sami in the Arctic regions of Scandinavia. By depicting how these people survive under nature's harshest conditions, it highlights their adaptability and endurance.

In the film, we see the young Sami Nila getting engaged to his great love Marja, but the harsh winter turns into a disaster where a large part of his reindeer herd perishes, his only source of income. The film is about his struggle to support and create security for his family and love. He seeks solutions through hard work and tough conditions in Kiruna. In the main roles we see Per Henning Nutti and Anni Kuhmunen.
