The story behind the motif
Poster with a fantastic photo of the center of Gothenburg with the footbridge over to Saluhallen which we see on the right in the picture. The year is 1901 and in the picture we get a sense of everyday life at the time with a well-populated centre.
After several years of discussions about a market hall, it was decided in 1887 that the building should be erected and allowed to “occupy 14,000 square feet of the area of the square; that iron and glass should be used for external building materials and that the cost should be calculated at around SEK 250,000.".
