The story behind the motif
Poster with a picture of a historic racing car of the model Auto Union Type D or also called "The Silver Arrows". The picture was taken during the Scanian Saxtorp Grand Prix from 1939.
Auto Union is today known as Audi and consisted in the 1930s of the four different manufacturers - Audi, Horch, DKW and Wanderer.
Auto Union was mainly known for its superiority on the racetrack with the Type D model shown in the picture among others. The car had a V12 engine that was known to spin the wheels at speeds well over 140 km/h. The image was designed by none other than Ferdinand Porsche and today copies are auctioned for over SEK 150 million.
