The story behind the motif

A beautiful canvas with the painting The Beach at Villerville created in 1864 by the French artist Eugène Boudin. He was a landscape painter and is considered a forerunner of Impressionism.

In the picture we see about three dozen men and women sitting, standing or walking along a sandy beach during a sunset. The scene of the painting takes place on the beach in Villerville , which is located in the Normandy region, France. It was in the Normandy region that Boudin was born in 1824.
